Authorities in Belmont County tasked with taking drunk drivers and other criminal offenders off the highways are calling this past weekend’s checkpoint a success.
News 9 reports over 1,000 cars passed through a weekend checkpoint along State Route 7 at the Aetnaville/Martins Ferry line. Of the vehicles, that passed through the checkpoint 14 were diverted for further investigation based on probable cause.
Troopers say overall, six drivers were arrested for OVI. Also single misdemeanor and felony arrests were made, while two more were taken to jail for outstanding warrants. Heroin was also discovered inside a vehicle
